  1. How unfortunate I only just saw this blog post, working for Downies as a Numismatist would be the fulfillment of a dream I didn’t even know I had until I saw this blog post advertising the vacant position.
Being rather excited about the prospect of working for/with such a prestigious firm, I popped immediately past the http://www.downiescareers.com website to find out further information/requirements for the position prior to actually looking at the date the post had been blogged, (I hadn’t realised that virtually half a year had passed since) however the site indicated no vacancies. It wasn’t until I returned to the blog I even took notice of the date!!
Congratulations to the lucky person that was chosen to fill the position. From my perspective, not only would they have secured a job in an industry they are passionate about therefore doing what many of us only dream of doing (enjoying, not merely enduring our time at work) but more importantly by getting a foot in the door with arguably Australia’s best known & most highly regarded highest Numismatic Retailers they would potentially be setting themselves up for a lifetime of opportunities to work within the Numismatic, Philatelic or Precious Metals industries…. A position I can only dream of one day being fortunate enough to stumble upon.
If Downies current staff are in any way indicative of the type of person chosen for the position, it really would be a win : win situation, the employee gaining the above and Downies securing another firmly committed, knowledge, savvy and incredibly helpful member to join their team.
I suppose it’d be down to the fact that Numismatics is not the kind of “hobby” one is able to “come & go” from, in fact I would argue it’s more a way of life than a hobby. A subject one spends one’s life attempting to learn as much as possible about but the more one learns, the more one realises just how much more there is that one has still yet to learn!
I’m yet to meet the Numismatist that knows “Everything” about the topic!!!

    1. Hi! Downies is definitely a great place to work, and we’re sure you’d love it here! Keep an eye on our careers website for new opportunities – we’d love to have you on board!
