New Gold Coin Honours
Rare Australian Bird
A new Royal Australian Mint issue of two legal tender gold coins honours Australia’s recognisable but dwindling North Queensland rainforest dweller, the Cassowary.
Distributed by Downie’s and Sherwood, Australia’s leading distributor of world coins, banknotes and collectibles, only 2,500 each of the A$200.00 half-ounce and A$150.00 one-third-ounce gold proofs will be available. They follow the Mint’s successful floral emblem coins.
The official issue price for each A$200.00 coin is A$650.00 or US$499.00, and for each A$150.00 coin A$450.00 or US$349.00 Each Cassowary coin is struck from .9999 fine gold and is set in a jarrah case with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
Downie's and Sherwood is a major distributor in Australia and the sole distributor in the United States for the official commemorative coins of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
