Description:

Featuring the 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20c and 50c, the 1972 6-coin set is one of the scarcest early annual decimal coin issues. Comprising the 'gone-but-not-forgotten' copper 1c and 2c coins, this highly desirable 6-coin set is also highlighted by some key decimal dates - all extremely tough-to-find in Uncirculated quality as presented here.

The Key Dates...

The 1972 50c
Impossible to secure from circulation in top grade, with well over four decades having passed since first issued, the Royal Australian Mint's 1972 50c coin is one of the key dates of the entire 1966-2015 50c series. The second highest cataloguing 50c coin issued for circulation, even taking into account all the commemorative issues, the 1972 50c has the lowest mintage of the 50c series. It is a must-have in strictly Uncirculated quality.

The 1972 5c
An utterly crucial coin for those seeking to maintain a complete decimal collection in the finest possible quality, the 1972 5c is extremely difficult to secure in premium grade. A key decimal date, the 1972 5c has the lowest mintage in the entire 5c series! 8.25 million may sound like a lot, but to put it into context, the next lowest 5c mintage is 25 million, with the highest 5c mintage being well over 300 million! Seldom set aside at the time of issue, and naturally impossible to source from change in Unc, the chance to secure the 1972 5c in Unc should not be missed.

The 1972 10c
Arguably as important as the 5c and 50c coins above, the 1972 10c is among the lowest mintage issues of the decimal series. Struck in limited numbers and, as a non-commemorative, ignored by collectors at the time of issue and seldom set aside, the 1972 10c is the highest cataloguing coin of the 10c series in Uncirculated quality. Indeed, it is double the value of the second highest cataloguing 10c date!

An important collection...
United with the copper 1c and 2c, as well as the Platypus 20c, these key decimal dates are all found within the 1972 Year Set. Set behind plastic bubble to protect the Uncirculated quality for the long-term, the 1972 6-coin collection is beautifully presented within a pack created in the same format as the Royal Australian Mint's post-1983 Mint Sets.
