Following the rejection of the Gold Standard, banknotes were no longer backed by gold, but were instead guaranteed as legal tender by the Commonwealth. All four note denominations were redesigned, but the new 10/- had to be modified just months later after
complaints that it was easily confused with the £1.

A key to the Australian predecimal note series, the short-lived first Legal Tender 10/- is rare and hotly pursued in any grade. With just one example available in gVF, immediate action is highly recommended.
