One of the great icons of Australian numismatics, we are delighted to present the excessively rare 1813 NSW Silver Dump (Fifteen Pence) D/2 Type in Extremely Fine - the finest ever offered by Downies!
It is thought that less than 1,000 Dumps exist today, with only a tiny percentage of the D/2 type. Indeed, the D/2 is approximately three times as rare as the rare A/1 type. Instantly identifiable as a D/2, the cross on the crown on this example points between the 'U' and 'T' in 'SOUTH', there are stops between the words 'NEW', 'SOUTH' and 'WALES', and the pearls in the crown are equal in size and touch the top of the band.

A vast majority of D/2 type Dumps are very well worn, with a minuscule number in better grade. Featuring strong detail in the lettering and crown, the D/2 coin before you has been graded by PCGS at XF45 - the equivalent of Extremely Fine. Unusually for a D/2, the date is very clear and completely on the flan - testimony to the supreme state of preservation of the coin. In more than eight-and-a-half decades in the industry, Downies has never offered a better 1813 NSW Silver Dump. The chance to secure such an outstanding example of a truly iconic Australian rarity demands the most serious of consideration.
