A union of beauty, history and rarity…

Rare in the state of preservation seen here, this attractive 19th century Share Certificate was issued by the Union Bank of Australia.

Formed in London in 1837, the Union Bank was one of Australia’s earliest banking institutions. By 1840, the bank had already established branches in Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales! Unlike many of its competitors, the bank weathered the storm of the banking crisis of 1893, and continued to operate well into the 20th century. In 1951, the bank merged with the Bank of Australasia to form the ANZ.

Offered in Very Fine, this scarce relic of Australia’s wild colonial days is a must-have. Click add to cart now!
