A rare opportunity to secure an example of every Australian date & mintmark issue of Queen Victoria’s final sovereign type, it is with great pride that we present the complete 1893-1901 Veiled Head Australian Sovereign 21-Coin Collection.
Queen Victoria’s life was blighted by tragedy. Predeceased by three of her children, she lost her husband Prince Albert to typhoid in 1861, and spent the rest of her life in mourning. Struck from 1893 to 1901, the final Queen Victoria sovereign type enshrined 'the Widow of Windsor' in gold, with Sir Thomas Brock’s portrait depicting Victoria wearing the veil that she donned for long periods after Albert’s death.
Rarely offered as a complete set, the 1893-1901 Veiled Head Australian Sovereign Collection comprises nine Melbourne Mint sovereign dates, nine Sydney Mint dates and the Perth Mint’s first three dates. Highlighted by coins such as the 1899P and 1901 trio (the last Queen Victoria sovereigns), we have one 21-coin collection available – set in a lockable timber case with a Certificate of Authenticity.
