The King Edward VII 1906M Half Sovereign is rare in any condition. Excessively rare in the immaculate state of preservation seen here, we have a single 1906M Half Sovereign graded at MS63 - the equivalent of Choice Uncirculated. To put that grade in proper context, this is the finest known example of the 1906M Half Sovereign assessed by PCGS.

As with all Australian half sovereigns, Edward VII half sovereigns are defined by tiny mintages. The Melbourne Mint's 1906M Half Sovereign was no exception to the rule. Just 82,042 were struck! A vast majority of that minuscule mintage will have been lost, or melted for the gold, and of those that survived, virtually all are heavily circulated. Before WWI ended the issue of gold coins for general use, half sovereigns were genuine circulation coins. Only the tiniest number of Edward VII Half Sovereigns remain in the sparkling quality evident in this spellbinding example.

A great Australian rarity when found in this magnificent state of preservation, the 1906M Half Sovereign presented here is defined by seldom seen detail in the designs, and a spectacular portrait of Edward VII. Also distinguished by an unusually strong M mintmark - testimony to its 'as struck' quality - the glowing orange-gold toning endows this spectacular coin with amazing eye-appeal.
