A key early Australian predecimal banknote issue, the 1927 £1 Kell/Heathershaw was an extremely short-lived note issue. Indeed, £1 notes during this signature combination were printed only from February 1927 to January 1928!

With the £1 being a low denomination, it had the highest circulation rate. It was estimated by Treasury in the 1920s that a £1 note had an average lifespan of just one year in circulation! As a result, Great Depression Era notes such as the highly desirable King George V 1927 £1 Kell/Heathershaw is scarce – regardless of the condition.
