The 1927 Canberra Florin was Australia's first commemorative coin. With its stunning depiction of the faҫade of Parliament House, it's also often regarded as our most beautiful. Issued to honour the May 9 opening of Parliament, it was truly a coin for the people. Fittingly, the coin drew large crowds of Australians to the Commonwealth Bank upon its release.

This beautiful predecimal coin was struck from sterling silver. Acclaimed artisan George Kruger Gray designed the famous reverse motif, rich with fine detail that is enhanced further by the precious metal. The coin's mintage of two million was thought to be sufficient at the time, but was quickly absorbed by an enthusiastic public.

Despite its rich history and sought-after status, this coin is surprisingly affordable in Very Fine! Secure your piece of history today - click 'add to cart' now.
