Second lowest mintage florin!

Although the Melbourne Mint began to strike silver coinage again in the 1930s after a hiatus in production as a result of the Great Depression, it did so in very limited numbers. Across the shilling and florin denominations in particular, the mintages in the early 30s rank as amongst the lowest in the predecimal series. The 1933 Florin is a powerful case-in-point. The 2nd lowest mintage florin in Australian history, with just 488,000 struck, the number withdrawn from circulation, lost or melted for the intrinsic value has made this Depression Era date tremendously scarce across all grades.
