Dated 1962, and issued as Australia took its final steps towards decimalisation, the 1962 Threepence was struck at the Melbourne branch of the Royal Mint, London. Although the mintage for that year was not insubstantial, it was the lowest 3d mintage of the 1960s. In addition, a huge amount of late predecimal silver coins were melted down upon Australia's conversion to decimal currency, and Australia's third last threepence date is seldom seen in the magnificent, lustrous condition as presented here.

Incredibly affordable given the sharply detailed designs and overall eye-appeal of the few 1962 Threepences in stock, this coin in MS65 is simply a must-have for the serious predecimal collector - or anyone with an eye for genuine quality.
