Key type in Consecutive Pairs!

The 1988 $10 Bicentennial is one of the most important banknotes ever issued. Not only is this note Australia’s very first commemorative banknote – it is also the first note in the world made from polymer! A vital acquisition in strictly Uncirculated quality, this is your chance to secure this key type as a pair of consecutively numbered notes!

Unique commemorative tribute

The first of only two Australian commemorative notes, the 1988 Bicentennial $10 was issued for the 200th anniversary of European Settlement. Unveiled amid much fanfare during the bicentennial celebrations, the idea of a ‘plastic’ note excited the minds of the Australian public. Once teething problems had been overcome, the note proved a ‘game-changer’. Cleaner and more durable than paper notes, and almost impossible to counterfeit, Australia had completely converted to polymer within 10 years. Today, more than 30 countries have issued polymer notes.

Hoarded out of circulation

With the commemorative theme, unusual composition and distinctive designs, the 1988 Bicentennial $10 naturally caught the eye of curious shoppers and collectors alike. As a result, this one-year-only type was quickly hoarded out of circulation. It is almost impossible to find this note in change in any grade, let alone in the perfect Uncirculated condition seen here.

Carries consecutive serial numbers!

A wonderful opportunity, we have the 1988 Bicentennial $10 available in Consecutive Pairs! Taken from original bundles of 100, and therefore in strictly Uncirculated condition, this important note is highly sought after as pairs bearing successive serial numbers. Press add to cart now!
