The King Charles I 1640s Exeter Mint Silver Crown is an extremely rare and extraordinarily fascinating artefact of the 1640s English Civil Wars. Quite literally born of the bitter conflict between Cavaliers and Roundheads, this coin was struck at the mint in Exeter established after the Royalists had captured the city in September 1643. The best documented Civil War mint, this emergency mint operated until the Royalists surrendered in 1646, and all Exeter coins are scarce to rare.
