The second £5 issue of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, Australia’s final £5 banknote represents an historic signpost on the road to decimalisation. Issued under the authority of the Reserve Bank of Australia from 1960 to 1965, Australia’s very last £5 banknote is very scarce when found in strictly Uncirculated quality, as available here.

In large part, the difficulty in securing this note in the superior quality is the high denomination status of the £5. The £5 simply represented too much spending power for most Australians to casually set aside as a memento, and most notes are therefore generally available only in well circulated condition.

An exception to the rule, we have a small number of this historic ‘last-of-its-kind’ £5 note in superb, flawless Uncirculated condition.
