BENETTON
Founded in 1986, the Benetton F1 racing team, referred to simply as Benetton, competed at the highest levels of auto racing until 2001, scoring a number of important moments and successes in the sport. Perhaps Benetton’s most historic moment came in 1994, when the legendary Michael Schumacher won his first world championship in the Benetton livery!
In 1996, when Schumacher left Benetton to join Ferrari, he was replaced by drivers Jean Alesi and Gerhard Berger. More change was in store for Benetton F1 when it was sold to Renault in 2000, and renamed Renault F1. The team saw renewed success with Fernando Alonso in 2005 and 2006.
