Downies is proud to be involved in the Kidney Kar Rally for the 11th year. Launched in 1989, our very own Ken and Kath Downie will take part in the 31st Kidney Kar Rally this August, travelling from Port Macquarie to Armidale via Capricorn Coast in Kar 888.
The Medallion
In conjunction with this year’s rally, we are delighted to present the 2019 Kidney Kar Rally Medallion. Spanning at 40mm in diameter, finished in gold-plating for the first time in Kidney Kar Rally history and featuring a full-colour design of Kar 54, driven by the longest serving participant in the rally.
By purchasing the Kidney Kar Rally Medallion, you will be making a world of difference to the lives of Australian kids struggling with kidney disease. Every cent from your purchase of the medallion goes towards Kidney Health Australia.
Kar 54
Driven by Peter Lanyon and his daughter Deb Lanyon, the history of Kar 54 stretches back to the first rally in 1989. With Peter first entering the rally as a consequence of his daughter Jodie’s battle with Kidney Disease. The Jodie Lanyon Memorial Trophy is awarded each year to the highest fundraiser of the Kidney Kar Rally.
"Sir Peter” has been there since the very first rally and is the only current driver to have competed in every rally since day one.
Show your support
All of the funds raised from the Kidney Kar Rally go directly to Kidney Health Australia in support of the Kidney Health Australia’s Kidney Kids Camps.
Held annually, the 4-day camp encourages children and their families create meaningful connections with others who are battling with similar issues and challenges. The camps support the whole family by giving a better understanding of Chronic Kidney Disease to siblings while also providing respite for the parents.
