The sun sets on a golden reign…

“Grief is the price we pay for love” Queen Elizabeth II

The passing of Her Majesty the Queen brings to an end the second Elizabethan era and draws the curtain on an historic reign that spanned seven decades, weathered enormous political and social change and, above all, was defined by devotion, loyalty and service.

Profoundly loved for her selflessness, genuine decency, humour and warmth, Queen Elizabeth II was a monarch like no other and the rock upon which Britain and the Commonwealth have flourished. However we choose to remember her, whether it is as an elegant young woman cloaked in finery at her coronation, or, as millions will fondly recall her, as the grandmother of a nation - she was the epitome of royalty!

In her 21st birthday speech in 1947, Elizabeth II vowed that “my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong”. That promise has now been fulfilled.

From all of us at Downies Collectables, “Thank you for your service and devotion Ma’am – you will be greatly missed.”
