A richly symbolic motif, the flag unites green panels representing the land with a blue panel representing the waters of the Torres Strait. Upon the blue panel is found a white 5-pointed star representing the five major island groups, surrounded by a depiction of a dhari – a traditional Torres Strait Islander headdress.
