Following a series of strategic pit stops, van Gisbergen took the lead from Mostert with a 'cheeky' contact manoeuvre minutes before the end, snatching victory by 4.4 seconds. Conscious of their roles the evolution of Gen3 racing Van Gisbergen and Mostert put on a thrilling battle for race 2 victory. Van Gisbergen welcomed the rivalry and acknowledged that he does "push things to the edge sometimes”.
