An inspiring tribute to one of Australia's most important emblems - proudly worn by Australian soldiers for more than a century - the History of the Rising Sun Badge Collection unites history, quality and affordability in equal parts.

An integral part of Australia's Digger tradition,, the origin of the Rising Sun Badge is the subject of much debate.

The most widely accepted version is that the badge was the brainchild of Major General Sir Edward Hutton - the Commander-in-chief of the Australian Forces in 1902. In arriving at a design for a badge for the Australian troops setting off for the Boer War in South Africa, he had been inspired by a gift of a Trophy of Arms, he received from another officer, comprising mounted swords and bayonets, set in a semicircle around a brass crown.

That original 1902 badge, having been somewhat hastily designed, was reconfigured in 1904. Although the basic design of the 1904 version, worn by Aussie soldiers throughout WWI and WWII, has remained largely unchanged for more than 100 years, various amendments have been made to both the wording on the scroll and the style of crown.

Modified several times since the second global conflict, there are in total seven different official versions of this famous insignia - all of which are represented in this sensational collection!

Comprising superbly made, full-size die-cast recreations of the seven different Rising Sun Badge types worn by Australian soldiers from 1902, this fascinating collection represents a crucial part of Australia's rich military history.

Presented in a timber case with a large metal Rising Sun Badge on the lid, each collection is accompanied by a detailed account of the evolution of Australia's major military emblem.
