The 2023 international endurance race event was a real record setter, including a circuit attendance of 53,446 fans! The Bathurst 12 Hour also created a new benchmark for fastest average speed in a Bathurst enduro. Sunday’s race was completed at an average speed of 167km/h, with the Safety Car deployed just four times after the start.
The Pro-class entry #888 was announced by Triple Eight Race Engineering, backed by SuperCheap Auto, driven by Shane van Gisbergen, Broc Feeney and Maximilian Götz. The #888 started on the front row following Broc Feeney’s standout qualifying performance on Saturday. Shane van Gisbergen and Matt Campbell were locked in combat at the three-hour mark of the LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour. Van Gisbergen led the race through three hours before the #75 worked its way into the lead thanks to cunning strategy. He handed over to Maximilian from effective seventh in the ninth hour. However, the team was penalised to the tune of a drive-through penalty for a pit stop infringement. Götz was lapped by leader Luca Stolz (#75 SunEnergy1 Mercedes-AMG) prior to serving the penalty, dropping off the lead lap, albeit still in seventh overall.
