Don't miss out!
  • Issued during the First World War – in the year of the ill-fated Gallipoli Campaign.
  • Struck in 22-carat gold at the Melbourne Mint – distinguished by M mintmark.
  • Unites the portrait of King George V with the St George & the Dragon design.
  • Offered in strictly Uncirculated condition.
  • Presented in a timber case with a Certificate of Authenticity.
  • Very scarce today, with so many coins melted for the gold.

Struck at the Melbourne Mint in the year Australian troops landed on the beaches of Gallipoli, the 1915M Gold Sovereign enables the collector to create a powerful connection with those who served Australia in “the war to end all wars”.

Distinguished by Benedetto Pistrucci’s exquisite St George & the Dragon motif, united with Bertram Mackennal’s portrait of King George V, all WWI sovereign dates are scarce today. This is in part attributable to the generally low mintages, and the number melted for the gold in the century since struck – as well as those dispatched overseas to satisfy international debt after WWI. The scarcity of WWI dates is also due to the fact that these coins are genuine artefacts of Australia’s Baptism of Fire.

A wonderful opportunity to secure some premium grade WWI gold, the 1915M Gold Sovereign is offered in Uncirculated condition, with each coin set in a timber case with a Certificate of Authenticity. Click add to cart now!
