Don't miss out!
  • Issued during the First World War – in the year of the ill-fated Gallipoli Campaign.
  • Struck in 22-carat gold at the Sydney Mint – S mintmark.
  • Unites the St George & the Dragon design with portrait of George V.
  • Offered in Extremely Fine to Uncirculated quality.
  • Presented in a timber case with a Certificate of Authenticity.
  • Very scarce today, with so many coins melted for the gold.

The sovereigns struck from 1914 to 1918 enable the collector to create a powerful connection with those who served Australia with such distinction in “the war to end all wars”. Struck at the Sydney Mint in the year Australian troops landed on the beaches of Gallipoli, we are delighted to present the 1915S Gold Sovereign.

Uniting Benedetto Pistrucci’s iconic St George & the Dragon reverse with the distinguished portrait of King George V by Bertram Mackennal, all WWI sovereigns are scarce today. This is in part due to the low mintages, and the number melted for the gold in the century since struck – as well as those dispatched overseas to pay off Australia’s massive war debt. The difficulty in tracking down WWI dates is also attributable to the fact that these coins are inextricably linked with Australia’s Baptism of Fire.

Offered in premium grade Extremely Fine to Uncirculated condition, each 1915S Gold Sovereign is beautifully presented within a timber case with a Certificate of Authenticity. Click add to cart now!
