Taking you on a journey back to the boom-time of Roaring 20s Australia, we are proud to present the Australia 1920s Coin & Banknote Commemorative Portfolio.
With Australia looking to leave the hardships of wartime behind, the 1920s was a time of great promise. Known as The Roaring Twenties, it was a period when the ongoing development of an internationally recognised, truly independent Australian nation could take place. Industry, technology, fashion, entertainment, transport…this was a moment in Australian history when people from all walks of life embraced the concept of change.
Offering you a pathway to the past, this historic release comprises examples of two of the most iconic, most sought after Australian currency issues of the era. Scarce in any grade, with nearly a century having passed since first issued, the 1927 Riddle/Heathershaw £1 banknote is presented in Fine to Very Fine condition. Australia’s first commemorative and arguably most beautiful coin, the accompanying 1927 Canberra Florin is graded Very Fine.
The perfect environment for issues of such unquestionable historic importance, the Australia 1920s Coin & Banknote Commemorative Portfolio will impress any collector. A fantastic way for you to enjoy these important Roaring 20s types, the 1927 Riddle/Heathershaw £1 banknote and 1927 Canberra Florin are beautifully presented within a superbly illustrated, richly informative hardback portfolio.

1927 £1 R26 Riddle/Heathershaw Fine to Very Fine
Issued in limited numbers to accommodate a small Australian population, the 1927 £1 Riddle/Heathershaw note is scarce in all grades. The low denomination £1 had a high circulation rate, and according to a Treasury report, was on average withdrawn from circulation after about 15 months in the 1920s. As a result, the 1927 £1 Riddle/Heathershaw is tough-to-find today.
1927 Canberra Florin Very Fine
The opening of the first Federal Parliament buildings in Canberra in 1927 was important enough to inspire Australia’s first commemorative coin – the 1927 Canberra Florin. Struck at the Melbourne branch of the Royal Mint, with the mintage restricted to just two million, this unique, one-year-only type is widely considered to be Australia’s most beautiful coin.
