Rarely seen in Uncirculated quality
Behind only to the Perth Mint’s first and arguably most famous sovereign – the low-mintage 1899P – the 1926P Gold Sovereign is the second highest cataloguing coin in the Mint’s 1899-1931 series. Among the most desirable, most important coins in Australia’s entire 1855-1931 Gold Sovereign Series, we have one example of the 1926P in strictly Uncirculated quality!
The mintage of the 1926P Gold Sovereign was very low, especially by Western Australian standards. Indeed, the mintage concluded at little more than one million coins, making the 1926P the third lowest mintage issue by the Perth Mint from 1899 to 1931! With so many coins from that tiny mintage melted for the gold value, or simply lost to the mists of time, it is no great shock that the 1926P is seldom offered to collectors in any grade – and seldom seen in the superb condition presented here!
Given its infrequent appearance on the market, the opportunity to secure this treasured sovereign date must be grasped with both hands – especially given the quality of the coin before you. A magnificent example, this coin has been graded by leading independent 3rd part grading service Numismatic Guaranty Company at MS62 – the equivalent of Uncirculated condition. Underpinned by a lovely original lustre, and the excellent detail in the bold, muscular St George design, this superbly preserved 1926P Sovereign is a coin for the connoisseur.
With just the single Uncirculated example of this treasured sovereign date available, prompt action is strongly recommended. Click add to cart!
