A sensational birthday present for those born in 1971, we are delighted to present the Australia 1971 Uncirculated 6-Coin Year Set!
Symbolising the greatest change in Australia’s monetary history, February 14 1966 saw the formal introduction of decimal currency. As one would expect, early decimal coinage was largely defined by sizable mintages, but there were some exceptions – such as the 1971 20c. The mintage of 8.947 million may seem large, but the annual average for the 20c coin from 1966 till today is over 38 million, with the annual average of the 1966-84 Machin Portrait 20c coin being over 48 million!
A wonderful opportunity to secure this scarce early decimal date in superior quality, the 1971 20c is united with the 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c and 50c in the 1971 6-Coin Year Set. In strictly Uncirculated condition, each coin carries a reverse design by Stuart Devlin, along with the first decimal portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, created by Arnold Machin.
