Spanning an imposing 38.61mm in diameter, the coin also unites St Edward’s Crown, the ampulla and the golden spoon on the obverse, all of which are employed in the Coronation Ceremony. Both the reverse and obverse motifs were created by iconic British designer, Arnold Machin, who created the first decimal coinage portrait of the Queen.
