A very short-lived issue, distinguished by the Gothic typeface of the serial numbers, the 1985 $20 Johnston/Fraser is the second rarest issue in the decimal $20 series.
Behind only the 1968 $20 Coombs/Randall in terms of rarity, the 1985 $20 Johnston/ Fraser Gothic Serials was one of two types issued during this signature combination. The change to Gothic typeface took place late in the 4-year signature combination, with OCR-B serials used for a vast majority of Johnston/Fraser $20 notes.
