Featuring Australia’s first $2 coin, issued in 1988 to replace the $2 note and bearing the Maklouf portrait, the set also includes the first Rank-Broadley date (1999) and first Clark date (2019). Notable for the inclusion of two not-issued-for-circulation dates (1991 & 2023, the last Queen Elizabeth II $2 date), the series also encompasses several low-mintage issues.
The 1993 $2, for example, has a mintage of 4.9 million, with the 2000 $2 having a mintage of 5.7 million. Highly sought after, the unique ‘obverse commemorative’ 2016 Decimal Currency 50th Anniversary $2 has a mintage of just 2.88 million, while the first Clark date has a mintage of 2 million!
