While each of those coins carries the traditional reverse design for its denomination, the obverses are anything but traditional. A sensational concept, the obverse of each coin unites a cameo portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with a reverse design originally employed for one of Australia’s predecimal coins! Struck by the Royal Australian Mint, the 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1 & $2 depict the predecimal Penny, Threepence, Sixpence, Shilling, Florin and Crown respectively!

Representing the first and thus far only time that circulating Australian coin types have carried obverse commemorative designs, the 2016 Uncirculated 6-Coin Year Set is naturally sought after by predecimal and decimal collectors alike.
