An important Australian legal tender coin, issued to honour all who have served Australia in times of conflict, the reverse motif is inspired by the Australian War Memorial’s Eternal Flame. Suspended above the Pool of Reflection, the Eternal Flame at the Australian War Memorial has been burning since 1988 in perpetual remembrance of the more than 100,000 Australians who have died in war and other operations since 1885.
Graced with a powerful full-colour design symbolising sacrifice and remembrance, the 2018 Lest We Forget C Mintmark $2 had a maximum mintage of 40,000, with only 30,891 coins actually struck. That tiny figure – combined with the ever-increasing popularity of the RAM’s colour $2 series – has meant that we have rarely had the chance to offer this one-year-only Australian legal tender issue.
