The ‘2020 Mint Set’, the first Mint Set to carry the new Jody Clark portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, represents a major landmark in Australian currency history.
Created by Arnold Machin, the first decimal portrait of Elizabeth II was employed on Australian coinage from 1966 to 1984. From 1985 to 1998, the effigy by Raphael Maklouf was used on Australian coins, with the much-admired Ian Rank-Broadley design featuring from 1999 to 2019. The fourth decimal portrait of Elizabeth II is the work of Royal Mint designer Jody Clark. Comprising Australia’s classic decimal denominations – the Echidna 5c, Lyrebird 10c, Platypus 20c, Coat of Arms 50c, Mob of Roos $1 and Aboriginal Elder $2 – each coin in your 2020 Mint Set is distinguished by the Clark obverse portrait.
