TV coin set to steal the show!
A unique precious metal tribute to one of the greatest technological breakthroughs of all time, we are proud to present the Royal Australian Mint’s Television 70th Anniversary 2026 50c Colour Silver Proof!
It was on September the 16th 1956 that Channel 9’s Bruce Gyngell launched a new era with those famous words – “Good evening and welcome to television.” Entertaining, enlightening and intriguing millions of people across the nation in the 70 years since, TV has become part of our lives. Whether it be Grand Finals, Royal Visits, election nights, soapies or the latest movies, TV has drawn people together, crystalising national conversations and shaping our national identity.
TV celebrates its 70th birthday in 2026, and the RAM has joined the party with the Television 70th Anniversary 2026 50c Colour Silver Proof! Struck from 18.24 grams of 99.9% pure, sparkling silver, this unique type features a design drawing together 45 elements of Australian TV over the last 70 years. Symbolising the extraordinary diversity of our television history, this complex, eye-catching reverse motif is overlaid with stylised ‘Test Pattern’ colours.
Sure to steal the show, and capture a large slice of the Australian collector audience, this official legal tender coin is a strictly limited edition. The mintage has been set at a mere 7,000 coins! With our allocation tiny, we must – in the interests of fairness – enforce a limit of one coin per household.
