An official issue of the Royal Australian Mint, the 2026 Mint Set marks the most significant milestone in Australia’s currency history – the 60th anniversary of decimalisation. Abandoning the complex system inherited from Britain, Australia converted to decimal currency in February of 1966. The RAM was established specifically to facilitate the changeover and, although the task of replacing the old coins and banknotes was immense, three years of planning and public education meant that the transition was remarkably smooth.

Giving all Australians the opportunity to celebrate this important landmark, this affordable collection encompasses six Australian legal tender coins. Struck to rigorous Uncirculated standard – far higher than the standard used to strike coins you find in your change – the six coins include the classic 5c, 20c, $1 & $2, united with unique 10c & 50c commemorative types.

Capturing both sides of Australia’s ‘currency crossroads’, the 50c portrays the key design elements of our predecimal coinage, with the 10c depicting the outlines of our decimal coins! Very importantly for serious collectors, the one-year-only 10c and 50c commemorative types are unlikely to be issued into general circulation! A must-have for a complete collection, it’s unlikely you will ever see these coins in your change!
