All but complete, with only three 1919/20 Penny Dot types and 1933/32 Penny Overdate absent, this crucial Australian predecimal collection comprises 75 different dates and mintmarks! An important, substantial slice of Australian history, coins from the reigns of King George V, King George VI & Queen Elizabeth II are included.
Underpinned by a broad array of highlights, there is no doubt that the collection is headlined by Australia’s King of Coins – the 1930 Penny. Known as ‘the coin not meant to be struck’, the 1930 Penny is Australia’s highest profile rarity. Born of the Great Depression, and known by approximately 1,500 examples, the 1930 Penny is extremely rare in any condition. The example included in this collection is graded Fine with some minor edge bruising.
Beyond the presence of the rare 1930 Penny, this sensational collection is awash with highlights. For a start, it includes Australia’s 2nd and 3rd third lowest mintage penny issues – the George V 1925 Penny and George VI 1946 Penny. Highly sought after, the 1925 Penny had an astonishingly low mintage of just 117,000! The mintage of the 1946 Penny was a mere 363,000!
Joining these absolutely crucial dates, the collection also comprises the WWI 1914 & 1915 Pennies, the Depression Era 1931 Penny and WWII 1940 K.G Penny – all low-mintage issues, all missing from many collections. All of these sought after dates are included in this 75-coin set!
