Created by iconic designer Stuart Devlin, Australia’s Platypus 20c is like all non-commemorative coins – traditionally neglected by collectors. Commemorative coins are hoarded out of circulation, but non-commemoratives are rarely set aside at the time of issue. The result? Non-commemoratives become increasingly scarce in Uncirculated condition. One of Australia’s original decimal coinage denominations, bearing a portrayal of the exotic platypus, the 20c is no exception to the rule.
