The 1973 50c had a mintage of just 4 million, for example, while the 1985 50c had a mintage of just 1 million! Likewise, the 1993 50c had a mintage of 1 million, with the mintages of the Rank-Broadley 2019 50c, Clark 2019 50c and 2020 50c being 1.1 million, 1.1 million & 2 million respectively!

Just as crucial to the serious collector, the Coat of Arms 50c series is arrayed with not-issued-for-circulation dates – and they are all found in this collection! The 1986, 1987, 1989, 1990 & 2023 Coat of Arms 50c coins were only struck for Royal Australian Mint issues, and will never be found in change! Even more astonishing is the tale of the not-issued-for-circulation 2005 Coat of Arms 50c.

Whether for collector sets or circulation, it was intended that all 50c coins in 2005 would carry the WWII 60^th Anniversary design – until the RAM received a request to contribute to Britain’s World Heritage Stamp & Coin Cover. In response to this request, the RAM struck just 30,000 examples of the 2005 Coat of Arms 50c – making it one of Australia’s lowest mintage decimal issues!
