An extensive, important Australian legal tender presentation, this collection comprises an Australian Echidna 5c for every year in which the type was struck – from 1966 to 2025! Better yet, EVERY coin is in strictly Uncirculated quality!
As is the case with all non-commemorative types, the Echidna 5c tends to be neglected by collectors. Unlike commemoratives, which are whipped out of circulation at speed, non-commemoratives are rarely set aside at the time of issue. The natural result, of course, is that non-commemoratives become scarce in Uncirculated condition. One of Australia’s original decimal coinage denominations, bearing a stunning portrayal of the iconic echidna by numismatic master craftsman Stuart Devlin, the classic 5c is no exception to the rule.
A sensational opportunity for the serious collector, the 1966-2025 5c Echidna Uncirculated 62-Coin Collection is packed with highlights. Including the very first 5c, the Queen Elizabeth II Machin Portrait 1966 5c, the collection includes the first Maklouf Portrait 5c (1985), first Rank-Broadley Portrait 5c (1999) and first Clark Portrait 5c (2019). It also includes the first Charles III 5c (2024) bearing a portrait by Daniel Thorne.
Along with the scarce, low-mintage 1972 5c & Clark 2019 5c, the collection includes the unique ‘obverse commemorative’ 2016 5c, plus three not-issued-for-circulation dates – 1985, 1986 & the last Elizabeth II 5c, struck in 2023. Only issued in Royal Australian Mint collections, and never to be found in change, all three not-issued-for-circulation dates have tiny mintages.
