Uniting the only two coins EVER issued for general circulation in Australia for a Royal Wedding since our first national currency began in 1910, we are delighted to present the 1981 50c & 2011 20c Royal Wedding Uncirculated Coin Pair!

1981 – the Royal Wedding of Prince Charles & Lady Diana Spencer

The romance between the heir apparent to the British throne and the vivacious young Lady Di captured the imagination of people around the world. Engaged in February of 1981, Prince Charles and Lady Diana were wed at St Paul’s Cathedral in July of the same year, watched by a global television audience estimated at 750 million. Australia’s third decimal commemorative, featuring the conjoined portraits of the Royal Couple, the 1981 Charles & Diana 50c remains one of Australia’s most popular coins.

2011 – the Royal Wedding of Prince William & Catherine Middleton

The first-born son of Charles & Diana, Prince William, wed Catherine Middleton in April, 2011. Over a million people lined the streets on the way to Westminster Abbey, while millions watched on television around the world. Astonishingly, there were 72 million live streams on the internet. The Royal Wedding had drawn many comparisons with that of William’s parents, with one concrete similarity being the fact that Australia issued a commemorative coin to honour the event – the 2011 Royal Wedding 20c.

Official Australian legal tender, the 1981 50c coin was struck at the Royal Australian Mint and at the Royal Mint in Wales, with the 2011 20c struck at the Royal Australian Mint. Presented in strictly Uncirculated quality, the two Royal Wedding coins are presented within an attractive, informative pack.
