Honouring Australia’s rich Commonwealth Games history – with the nation participating in every Commonwealth Games and hosting the event five times – we are delighted to present the 1982 & 2005 50c Commonwealth Games Uncirculated Coin Pair!

Australia’s fifth decimal commemorative coin, the 1982 Commonwealth Games 50c honoured the Brisbane 1982 Commonwealth Games. Designed Stuart Devlin – the man behind Australia’s first decimal coin designs – the reverse features the official logo superimposed over a map of Australia, encircled by a selection of sports contested at the event. The obverse carried the first decimal portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, by Arnold Machin – the last 50c commemorative to bear this motif.

The 2005 Commonwealth Games Student Design 50c is an official commemorative of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. The design was chosen as a result of a Royal Australian Mint competition, with the winning motif – created by Victorian student Kelly Just – capturing Australia’s internationally renowned passion for sport and our awareness of the environment perfectly. Australian legal tender, the obverse of this unique type carries Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

Struck by the Royal Australian Mint, and presented in strictly Uncirculated quality, the two Australian legal tender coins are beautifully presented within an attractive, informative pack. Click add to cart now!
