Paying homage one of the true giants of the Pleistocene Epoch – known as the Ice Age, beginning around 2.6 million years ago – – we are proud to present the Royal Mint’s Steppe Mammoth 2024 50p Colour Silver Proof Coin!
Created in collaboration with palaeobiologist Professor Adrian Lister of the Natural History Museum, with artwork by palaeo-artist Robert Nicholls, the coin honours the Mammuthus trogontherii. Known as the steppe mammoth, this enormous herbivore was one of the largest beasts to exist during the Pleistocene period, with an average shoulder height of 4 metres and an average weight of 10 tonnes!
Capturing the massive dimensions of this huge creature in eye-catching precious metal, the Steppe Mammoth 2024 50p Colour Silver Proof Coin is struck to the Royal Mint’s highest standards from sparkling sterling silver. Housed in an official Royal Mint case, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, this official British legal tender coin is extremely exclusive. The limited edition is just 2,500!
