A glittering precious metal tribute, we are delighted to have secured an allocation of the Royal Mint’s Portraits of Queen Elizabeth II 2026 £5 Ian Rank-Broadley Silver Proof Coin.

In 1999, a new portrait of Queen Elizabeth II appeared on Australian circulating coinage – a portrait designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. A noted British artist and sculptor, Rank-Broadley had quite intentionally set out to create a portrait underpinned by greater realism, in contrast to the idealised portrait it was to replace, created by Raphael Maklouf. As coins were becoming smaller, it was also Rank-Broadley’s ambition to design a portrait that would “fill as much of the field as possible”, and he used the 1817 coinage portrait of King George III created by Benedetto Pistrucci as his inspiration.

A much-admired work, employed on Australian coinage until 2019, Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Elizabeth II certainly dominates the field of this crown-sized coin from Britain’s Royal Mint! Superbly remastered by the Mint’s Chief Engraver, Gordon Summers, Rank-Broadley’s portrait looks utterly sensational struck to the pinnacle of Proof quality from sterling silver. Uniting Mother & Son, the portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings adorns the obverse.

Complete with packaging that explores the story behind the portrait, this official British legal tender coin is beautifully presented within an official Royal Mint case with a Certificate of Authenticity. Individually numbered, that Certificate confirms that the limited edition of the Portraits of Queen Elizabeth II 2026 £5 Ian Rank-Broadley Silver Proof has been restricted to a mere 3,900 coins.
