After the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, and the accession of King Charles III, Australia set about the most significant revision of decimal currency since the introduction of decimal currency itself. For the first time in more than seven decades, the coins of Australia would carry the portrait of a monarch other than the queen.
