Piloted by Shane van Gisbergen and Garth Tander, the 2019 Bathurst 1000 campaign was nothing short of dramatic. Van Gisbergen qualified second behind pole-sitter and eventual race winner Scott McLaughlin, setting the stage for an intense trans-Tasman showdown. The race reached fever pitch with just three laps to go when a late safety car intervention set up a one-lap sprint to the chequered flag—one of the most thrilling climaxes in Bathurst history. Van Gisbergen himself later called this battle against McLaughlin his favourite Supercars duel.
