Notable for the extraordinarily low number available outside Japan, we are proud to present the Japan Mint’s 2026 Cherry Blossom Viewing Hiroshima Brilliant Uncirculated Coin Set!
Honouring the longstanding tradition of Cherry Blossom Viewing, this official release comprises six Japanese legal tender coins (1 to 500 Yen). Underpinned by the Japan Mint’s rigorous Brilliant Uncirculated quality, the six coins are united with a one-year-only Year of the Horse Silver Medallion. Bearing a horse on the reverse, the obverse of the medallion features letters representing ‘Hana-no-mawarimichi’ plus cherry blossom petals depicted with latent image technology. When viewed from different angles, different cherry blossom petals appear!
Housed within an acrylic case, the 6-coin set is presented within a sleeve depicting the Hiroshima Blossom of the Year, Omuro-ariake ("御室有明"). Featuring flowers that are light pinkish white in colour, Omuro-ariake is a variety of sato-zakura cultivated cherry tree, found in Ninna-ji Temple in Omuro, Kyoto.
Affordable, eye-catching and official, the 2026 Cherry Blossom Viewing Hiroshima Set is also extremely exclusive – particularly where the international market is concerned. So popular is this annual issue in Japan, the Japan Mint keeps virtually the entire mintage for the domestic market. Indeed, the mintage of the Hiroshima Cherry Blossom Viewing tribute is 19,000, but only 242 sets will leave Japan!
