Struck by the Royal Australian Mint, the 2014 Remembrance Day $2 honours all those who have served Australia during times of conflict. A moving military commemorative, the heart of the superbly designed reverse motif features a dove holding an olive branch in its beak. Powerful symbols of peace, the dove and olive branch are encircled by a ring of vibrant green, surrounded by rays of sunlight based on the original Rising Sun Badge of Australia’s Commonwealth military forces.
Marking one of our key days of national commemoration, the 2014 Remembrance Day $2 was not only Australia’s third circulating full-colour coin type. It was also an extremely low mintage type! A mere 1.85 million examples were struck, and the coin was swiftly hoarded out of circulation.
