Struck to Proof quality from a whopping FIVE OUNCES of 99.9% pure, glittering silver, this spectacular coin honours Albrecht Dürer’s The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. A painter and printmaker, notable as a leader of the German Renaissance in the 15th and 16th centuries, Dürer published this celebrated artwork in Apocalypse with Pictures. Released in 1498, Apocalypse with Pictures featured fifteen woodcut prints portraying scenes from the Book of Revelation in the New Testament of the Bible.
Spanning 65mm in diameter, the huge flan of this collectable colossus forms the consummate canvas for Dürer’s iconic work. Capturing the dynamism and danger inherent in this famous print, the reverse depicts Death, War, Conquest and Famine, as well as the ‘AD’ (Albrecht Dürer) monogram.
