America the Beautiful on official US legal tender coins…

Capturing the immense beauty and fascinating history of some of the most popular sites in the USA upon the reverse, with the portrait of the country’s first President, George Washington, on the obverse. Struck to the rigorous quality of the world-renowned US Mint, each coin is superbly finished in 24-carat gold!

Located in Wyoming, Idaho, the Yellowstone National Park is renowned as a volcanic hot spot. In 1871, a group of explorers, under government sponsorship, embarked on an expedition into the Yellowstone region. On this expedition, the group compiled a comprehensive report to convince the US Congress on the importance of preserving the ‘land of fire and ice’ for the ‘benefit and enjoyment of the people’. The following year, President Ulysses S. Grant signed the Yellowstone National Park Protection Act – creating the USA’s first national park. In a time of great expansion, the creation of the Yellowstone National Park highlighted the area was too valuable to develop. Today, the park has grown to encompass 8,983 square kilometres of colourful hot springs, mudpots, geysers, mountains, forests, lakes, and rivers. The Yellowstone National Park is home to some of North America’s most iconic fauna, including grizzly bears, bison, elk and wolves.
