America the Beautiful on official US legal tender coins…

Capturing the immense beauty and fascinating history of some of the most popular sites in the USA upon the reverse, with the portrait of the country’s first President, George Washington, on the obverse. Struck to the rigorous quality of the world-renowned US Mint, each coin is superbly finished in 24-carat gold!

Yosemite National Park, located in the Tuolumne, Mariposa and Madera counties in Northern California, is situated on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Galen Clark and John Muir were key players in campaigning Congress to protect the Yosemite Valley and surrounding area. Since 1984, the area has been a designated World Heritage Site, recognised for its granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, giant sequoia groves, lakes, mountains, glaciers and biological diversity. It is considered the largest and least fragmented park, with almost 95% of the area being designated wilderness – meaning it is still in its natural state. The park is home to 20% of California’s plant species, including the famous sequoia groves. Sequoias are visually striking and dominant trees, standing for thousands of years. They have long been an important attraction for tourists.
